Annual Packing Event Delivers 2,000 Blizzard Bags to Frederick County Children
This year’s annual packing event was such a heartwarming day. Sponsored by Leidos Biomedical Research and hosted by our incredible partners at the YMCA of Frederick County, we gathered 85 volunteers who packed 2,000 bags full of food. Each bag represents a weekend without hunger for a child in our community—a child who might otherwise go without.
A memorable moment for us as staff was hearing from volunteers about how much this event has grown. They shared how meaningful it is to know that each bag represents a child who will have food ready for them if schools close, especially as we prepare for winter. These “Blizzard Bags” go home with children when severe weather is forecasted, so our kids don’t have to worry about missing meals, even if they can’t get to school.
Despite this event’s success, we’re constantly reminded that many more children in our community still need our help. If we had more funding, we could feed every child waiting for support. Please consider donating on our website if you’d like to help close this gap. Every gift brings us closer to ensuring that no child in Frederick County goes without food.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible and all of you who continue supporting our mission. Together, we’re making a real difference, and with your help, we can do even more.
